You Can Help

Keeping Southmountain Children and Family Services in a position to provide the best in quality services requires financial assistance from many venues. The primary sources of income for our programs are as follows:

Government Funds:
As with almost all licensed facilities, we qualify for Federal Title IV-E funds and some state funds set aside by the Legislature each year. Additionally, some of the services we provide are eligible for Medicaid reimbursement. However, in times of economic stress like our government is facing today these funds are unstable and cannot be guaranteed.

Foundations and Trusts:
Another major source of funding for us is grants from Foundations and Trusts. These grants are usually specifically designated for the startup of new programs or for building new facilities. We at Southmountain have been very fortunate with our grant writing. Over the last decade, Foundations and Trusts such as the Duke Endowment, the Kate B. Reynolds Health Care Trust, and the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation have awarded us major grants that have allowed us to build new homes and recreation facilities for the children in care, as well as start new programs such as the Family Support Center. Without these major contributors, raising funds to improve and grow our programs would be almost impossible.

Personal Contributions:
The most important venue of funding by far is the generosity of friends and caring individuals who wish to insure the day-to-day operation of our programs. Gifts from individuals, businesses, churches, and civic and fraternal organizations are vital to our survival. Without these generous donations, we simply could not continue to provide services to children and families.
