Opportunities to Volunteer at Southmountain


 

You may wish to volunteer to work with the children and staff on the main campus of Southmountain Children's Homes. Opportunities exist for you or your group to help us in our mission of serving children by committing to one or more of the activities listed below:

Assisting in the ceramics room.
 

Assisting in the woodworking room.
 

Tutoring individual children in academics or reading.
 

Classes in computer skill development.
 

Assisting with Christmas, Easter, and other special programs, performances, and plays that the children put on for the public.
 

Offering classes on campus in areas such as dance, aerobics, tumbling, gymnastics, art, theater, etc.
 

Bringing a church or civic group to campus to interact with the children and staff.
 

Assisting the recreation director with organized events such as hiking, basketball tournaments, rappelling, river tubing, canoe trips, etc.
 

Assisting the maintenance director with campus clean-up, beautification, or special projects.
 

Bicycle repair days.
 

Assisting individual homes with outdoor beautification and landscaping.
 

Sponsoring or presenting a campus-wide event such as dance with a D.J. or band, gospel singing, country singing, magic shows in the theater, etc.
 

Sponsoring a night at the movies in the theater for a specific group of children.
 

Making presentations in the community to your church group, civic club, or organization about the mission of the Center.
