Southmountain Children and Family Services operates a half-dozen Children’s Advocacy Centers throughout the State of North Carolina and is expanding.    Two (2) Family Advocacy positions are available: one to provide service for Harnett County and another to provide service collectively for Edgecombe, Nash, and Wilson counties.  

Family Advocate

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher required. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Human Services.
• Strong working knowledge of community resources and public relations skills are preferred.
• Salary based on experience and education. Benefits include annuity plan, health, and other insurances, and paid-time-off.

The Family Advocate provides support for the children and families who utilize services through the Children’s Advocacy Center in that geographic County. The Advocate is to ensure a continuum of services for children who have been victims of sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect, or other types of trauma. The focus of this position is to provide support, orientation and education to children who are victims of crime and to their family members, as well as coordinate services with partnering agencies involved in the investigation and treatment of child abuse, neglect and trauma. This position is full time 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday, but requires flexibility for after hour emergencies and periodic on call.
