Southmountain Children and Family Services is seeking individuals and couples as live-in substitute parents in NC’s most unique alternative foster placement organization. Professional Parents live in one of eight homes within a closed community near Lake James providing 24 hour / 7 days per week care to up to six children who are unable to live in their biological homes. Professional Parents are completely supported in their roles by highly trained Mental Health Therapist / Case Managers who are on-call 24/7, an amazing recreation staff, and a full complement of support professionals. Parents live as traditional foster parents but are compensated as employees with full benefits including health, dental, and life insurance as well as retirement and other benefits. While the position is a job with excellent compensation and benefits, most who answer the call consider it more of a mission and a chance to help children heal and grow. Young couples also have an opportunity to learn an evidence-based child-rearing model to use when they have children of their own or decide to become foster or adoptive parents. Professional Parents also learn about the effects of childhood trauma and the use of trauma-informed practice to assist with healing and developing resiliency in children and adults.

Southmountain is a Christian-based, non-denominational agency and is an equal opportunity employer.
