Southmountain Children and Family Services currently operates eight Children’s Advocacy Centers (CAC) throughout North Carolina and plans to open this Fall two additional CAC's:  one to serve Craven and Pamlico, and another to serve Carteret county. The following employment positions are open for applications:

Director/Forensic Interviewer


• Bachelor’s Degree or higher required in Human Services.
• Strong organizational, group facilitation, and written communication skills
are required.
• Forensic interviewing, and public relations skills are preferred.

The Center Director will work in collaboration with a Multidisciplinary Team formed with representation from community agencies charged with the investigation of child abuse cases (DSS, Law Enforcement, the DA’s Office, as well as other community service providers). One of the primary duties of the Director is to conduct forensic interviews of children who report physical, sexual abuse, or witness to violent crime . Extensive training will be provided for this duty. The Director will collect and input all data pertaining to each case, prepare the case for discussion at a weekly case review and facilitate the review meetings. The director will also work in collaboration with other community service providers as well as Family Advocates and Therapists to provide victim advocacy, counseling, and family services. This position is full time 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday, but requires flexibility for after hours emergencies and periodic on call.

Licensed Mental Health Clinician

• Master’s Degree or higher required.
• Licensure to provide mental health services required.
• Preferred TF-CBT rostered , currently participating in the NC Child Treatment
Program, or being nationally certified.
• Experience in treating traumatized children.
• Salary based on experience and education. Benefits include annuity plan,

The Clinician will serve children and their families who are seeking services through the Children’s Advocacy Center.

Duties include providing trauma-informed comprehensive clinical assessments, outpatient therapy services, collaboration and consultation with other community service providers. Participating member of MDT.
Advanced training and clinical supervision is provided.

Family Advocate

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher required. Preference will be given to
candidates with a degree in Human Services.
• Strong working knowledge of community resources and public relations
skills are preferred.

The Family Advocate provides support for the children and families who utilize services through the Children’s Advocacy Center. The Advocate is to ensure a continuum of services for children who have been victims of sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect, or other types of trauma. The focus of this position is to provide case management services that include: support, orientation and education to children who are victims of crime and to their family members, as well as coordinate services with partnering agencies involved in the investigation and treatment of child abuse, neglect and trauma. The Family Advocate reports directly to the Regional Director and is required to work cooperatively with all multi-disciplinary partners. This position is full time 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday, but requires flexibility for after hour emergencies and periodic on call.
