Southmountain to Begin SPARCS Therapy

Posted by: swright 4 years ago

At the end of January, Southmountain Children and Family Services will begin to offer two SPARCS groups for teenagers. SPARCS, short for Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress is an evidence-based group therapy for teens that teaches life-long skills that teens can use to cope with the trauma they have experienced. One group will be held on the campus of our Foster Community and the second group will be held at McDowell High School.
The mission of Southmountain Children and Family Services is to Provide Pathways of Change for Children, Families, and the Community. As part of this mission, Southmountain strives to grow and improve the services we offer to children and families. By beginning this new program we will have another tool to help our teenagers on campus and in the community and we are excited to begin to offer SPARCS groups!
The training of our Clinicians was made possible in part by a grant from the Burke Women’s Fund, operating under the auspices of the Community Foundation of Burke County. Southmountain is very grateful for this gift from the Burke Women’s Fund.  Thank you!
