FORENSIC INTERVIEW SPECIALIST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Southmountain Children and Family Services is seeking a qualified candidate to join its team as a Forensic Interviewer at the Nash, Edgecombe, Wilson County Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC).

The Forensic Interview Specialist ensures children referred to the CAC are provided a forensic interview in an unbiased and developmentally appropriate manner. Each forensic interview should be conducted in accordance with best practice standards as outlined by the accrediting association. The focus of this position is also to provide support, orientation and education to children who are victims of abuse and to their family members, as well as coordinate services with partnering agencies involved in the investigation and treatment of child abuse, neglect and trauma. The job may also include community prevention awareness outreach.

The center director/forensic interviewer reports directly to the Regional Director and is required to work cooperatively with all multi-disciplinary partners. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday, but requires flexibility for after-hour emergencies and periodic on-call.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher required

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Human Services.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with young children and adolescents

  • Knowledge of child development, child abuse and the effects of child maltreatment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, computer and mediation skills

  • Must have a working knowledge of the impact of trauma and implement a trauma-informed care approach to providing services.

  • Forensic interviewing skills/experience are preferred.

  • Salary: starting at $45,000
