WORK WITH US!
Southmountain Children and Family Services is dedicated to serving children and families of all ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations. We do not discriminate against anyone in terms of service or employment. Furthermore, we recognize the diversity of all our communities and fully commit ourselves to seeking ways to improve diversity among our Board, staff, and services to clients.
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Southmountain Foster Community in Nebo, North Carolina, marries the best of group care with the best of traditional foster care. Created in 2003 (after starting as a group home in 1903) on a picturesque 150-acre campus, the neighborhood of eight homes improves the quality of life of children in foster care through state-of-the-art therapy, facilities, and recreation opportunities.
Southmountain Children’s Advocacy Centers include eleven locations across the state. Each center is dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support for children and families facing the trauma of child abuse, maltreatment and neglect by serving as a crucial bridge, bringing together professionals from various fields (mental health, law enforcement, child protective services, healthcare, etc.) to collaborate in a child-friendly setting. By fostering this multidisciplinary approach, Southmountain strives to minimize the additional trauma children can experience during investigations and legal proceedings and not only address the immediate needs of children but also focus on long-term healing and resilience. By offering a range of services, from counseling and therapy to educational support, we empower children to overcome adversity and build a brighter future. Ensuring children receive the specialized attention and mental health services they need to heal and thrive, allows Southmountain to be a beacon of hope and support for children in need across North Carolina.
Who We Are
Southmountain empowers our staff to collaborate, inspiring communication, problem-solving, and autonomy in their roles, ultimately creating a positive impact on the children and families we serve. We trust our employees to prioritize teamwork with respect and fairness. Outcomes are important, but we believe we can achieve our goals while nurturing an environment that supports the importance of mental health and work-life balance. We invest in our team, allowing them to explore their full potential, thereby cultivating the highest quality workforce and creating opportunities for advancement.
